Abstract:

AGRIS, a global public service provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is a central service which manages diverse resources crossing many boundaries such as resource types, languages, geographic regions, providers, and domains. This presentation will focus on three important components: (1) a metadata infrastructure which unifies the management and access of bibliographic and research data, (2) the indexing approach enabled through the AGROVOC for its multilingualism and semantic strategies, and (3) a unified platform and service for the community that enables two ways for the data providers, partners, and users to contribute to the AGRIS core knowledgebase.
